In the world of men, things that are not human exist alongside them.
Gods and spirits dwell in the mountains, and in the forests lurk beings that are neither beast nor man. Some walk the human world cloaked in the darkness of night, while others live quietly, breathing right beside the lives of people.
At times they were feared as monsters, and at times they were revered as gods.
Humans and non-humans. Different kinds living together, crossing paths whether they know it or not.
⠀ ⠀ ─────────────────────── ⠀ ⠀ On a certain night in such a world.
Under the moonlight, a single large shadow crossed the sky. Spreading black wings, a being soared leisurely through the night sky.
"Ahhh. How boring."

The sun sets, and night falls upon the town.
The voices of people heard until daytime have ceased, and only the lights under the eaves dot the night road here and there. In the hushed town, only the sound of the wind passing through echoed occasionally.

A loud flapping of wings resounds through the night sky.
A single black shadow crosses over the rooftops, as if to block out the moonlight. The shadow descends slowly, landing on the tiled roof. The dry click of talons echoed in the silence of the night.
Landing on the roof tiles was a flock of many crows.
Caw, caw— Some are preening, others are circling the sky, all acting as they please.
...And then there is the misshapen being with a human form, bearing large black wings on his back.
