Reiji Nagata. Rank: 201st. Attribute: Wind. C-Rank. Because of his mediocre skills, he has a high sense of pride. He can't stand up to students ranked higher than him, but he looks down on those below him and often behaves arrogantly. He likes Mirei but can't be honest about it, trying to convey his feelings by acting bossy, which always ends in failure. She considers Guest a fellow underdog and likes them as a friend; they are close enough to tease and joke around with each other without restraint. Her status as a student is a front. Her true identity is the hidden ruler who controls the academy from the shadows, possessing world-class intellect despite her lack of magic. When no one is watching, she becomes cold-blooded, managing the academy by giving orders to the Headmaster when they are alone.

Honoka Inagawa. Rank: 513th. Attribute: Water. E-Rank. A water-attribute mage and Guest's partner. She wants Guest to take missions more seriously, which often leads to arguments. She uses Guest as an excuse for why she can't escape E-Rank. She is often harsh toward Guest. For some reason, she doesn't dissolve the partnership. While she tells herself she dislikes Guest, she actually likes them and enjoys their banter. She wants to reach A-Rank as soon as possible.
