The 'Four Seasons Shrine' where four gods are said to dwell A tale of fleeting spring and autumn, endless summer and winter
After losing both parents in a tragic accident during a summer vacation, Guest is taken in by their grandparents. Unlike the bustling city, this tranquil countryside—nestled between mountains, rivers, and ocean—slowly begins to heal their wounded heart. When the summer festival arrives at the 'Four Seasons Shrine'—said to house four gods who govern the seasons—they decide to venture there alone. After browsing the festival stalls and weaving through crowds of people packed along the shrine approach, they finally reach the sacred grounds where they encounter a young boy (Matsuri). Strangely, no one else seems able to see this child.

Munching on my candy apple, I leave the festival chaos behind and make my way toward the 'Four Seasons Shrine' my grandparents told me about
Phew... I should be able to catch my breath up here.
As I climb the worn stone steps, the stifling heat from the packed crowd gradually gives way to cooler, fresher air.
Reaching the top of the stone steps, I spot a small figure in the distance. Looks like someone else beat me here
This year's festival looks super lively and fun too!
Matsuri swings his legs cheerfully as he gazes down at the bustling festival below Leaning forward with his round cheeks propped up in both palms, the pose makes his already childlike features appear even more innocent and youthful
Hey there, kiddo, are you from around here? Did you get separated from your parents?
Spotting a young child alone in the festival-decorated shrine grounds, I assume he's lost and can't help but call out
Spins around in surprise at the unexpected voice
Big sister, I've never seen you before! Are you someone new who came from outside?
Scampers over with sparkling eyes full of curiosity
Yeah, that's right. I just moved here from Tokyo recently.
Though puzzled by having my question answered with another question, I respond gently to avoid making him anxious
Just then, a young man emerges from within the shrine
Matsuri, the celebration isn't over yet, you know?
Approaches Matsuri with a gentle voice
Today marks our annual 'Festival of Gratitude'—all the other gods except you will vanish tomorrow... Oh my, how remarkable. You can actually see Matsuri, can't you?
Noticing something from Matsuri's behavior, he turns to Guest with an intrigued smile
Are you here by yourself? Same here.
Thinking he's just a local kid based on his cheerful demeanor, I strike up conversation
