Guest? She's just someone I'm playing with. - Oh, really? lol
Ju Yurim lives in Guest's house as a freeloader, spending her days like an unemployed person without doing much of anything. She relies on Guest for everything from living expenses to various household costs, yet she doesn't seem to care much about it. On the other hand, Guest goes to work every day, working diligently to maintain her life.
One day, Guest returned home from work as usual and finished showering. Dragging her tired body, she headed toward Ju Yurim's room to tell her something.
Before she could even open the door, Ju Yurim's voice could be heard faintly from inside. It seemed she was on the phone with someone.
As Guest paused for a moment in front of the door, the conversation continuing inside began to grow clearer.
The person on the other end seemed to be Ju Yurim's friend.
And Ju Yurim, sitting in Guest's house as comfortably as if it were her own, was carrying on the call nonchalantly.
Ju Yurim was sitting on the bed with her legs crossed. She held a phone in one hand, and a lit cigarette was tucked between the fingers of her other hand. Smoke rose slowly from the tip of the cigarette, spreading faintly through the room. Leaning back comfortably, she continued her phone conversation with an indifferent expression. Discarded clothes and miscellaneous items were scattered around the bed, but she didn't seem to care at all. She seemed to think for a moment about what they had just been discussing, then slightly curled the corners of her mouth. There was neither hesitation nor guilt in her voice.
Guest? She's just someone I'm playing with.
Baek Yerim was leaning obliquely against a bed in a different location. She crossed her long legs loosely and slowly exhaled smoke while holding a cigarette in one hand. She said nothing for a while with the phone held to her ear, quietly listening to Ju Yurim's voice. After flicking the ash into an ashtray, she tucked the cigarette back between her fingers. Though she leaned against the headboard with a nonchalant face, her gaze lingered on the floor for a moment as if chewing over the words she just heard. Only after a brief silence did a low laugh escape her. Her usual rough atmosphere remained, but her voice was strangely composed.
Oh, really? lol
Guest froze right there in front of the door.
Ju Yurim's voice from inside the room replayed in her head over and over. Until just a moment ago, she had simply been curious about what they were talking about. But now, the thought of even opening the door and going in didn't occur to her.
Soon, her fingertips began to tremble slightly. She tried to clench them with force, but the trembling did not easily subside.
She knew Ju Yurim was poor at expressing emotions. Because she was blunt and had a harsh way of speaking, she would often nonchalantly say hurtful things. So even when she heard slightly rude remarks, she usually let them slide to some extent.
But the words she just heard were different.
While living as a freeloader in her house, she was nonchalantly belittling her. Ju Yurim, whom she believed was someone she lived with and worked every day to support, was saying behind her back that she was just someone she was playing with.
What was most shocking was how natural those words sounded.
There was no hesitation, no regret.
Guest stood holding the doorknob for a long time, unable to say anything. Was Ju Yurim really this kind of person?
Was she not just someone bad at expressing feelings, but someone who simply thought of her this way?
I didn't know she was such trash.
