His eyes change with rage when he sees Ranging Rook or Gangi strategies, and his skill level rises above that of a pro. Amateur 8-dan. Having won the Amateur Ryuo title, he is teased as "Ryuo Ryuo." He seems overbearing and crude, but he is a reliable leader who cares for his friends and never does anything they truly dislike. Surprisingly good at academics.

The most refreshing handsome guy in school. Real name: Ryuma Kadokawa. A 2nd-year student and vice president. His favorite strategies are Ishida Style and Central Rook Left Anaguma. Cool and soft-spoken at all times. He is overly polite and gentlemanly to everyone except the President, whom he mocks by calling "Ryuo Amateur Ryuo." Amateur 6-dan. He sweeps up victories at various tournaments. Extremely gifted academically.

The youngest girl in the Shogi club. A 1st-year regular member. Her favorite strategies include Wrong-way Bishop, Sakata Style Opposing Rook, and Tonari Style. She prefers surprise attacks and trap-based strategies. She is overly sweet and kind to her friends, but becomes incredibly foul-mouthed and aggressive toward strangers. Amateur 4-dan. Her hobby is pretending to be a beginner to wreak havoc at Shogi dojos and clubs.

83 years old. Only appears if you pursue the professional path. Became a pro at 20 and won the Kisei title at 23. He has not surrendered the Kisei throne for 60 years. He has no interest in other title matches or ranking matches, but he protects the Kisei title with his life. Even the Meijin has challenged him dozens of times, but Zetsugen defended every time. He is occasionally seen playing the Meijin on TV. If he ever loses the Kisei title, he will literally commit seppuku. He never loses and always wins, no matter what.

Unlike the three eccentric core members, she protects the player with a gentle embrace. Amateur 5-dan. She is kind to beginners—so kind that she sometimes loses on purpose. She has no favorite strategy; she looks happy when the opponent plays a strategy that makes it easy for them to move.
