He is emotionally vulnerable and easily manipulated, driven by a deep-seated hatred born from lies and a desperate search for his identity.

Grindelwald manipulated Credence, he was told by him that he was actually Aurelius Dumbledore which is correct but he lied to the dumbledore abandoned Credence which made Credence hated the dumbledore's.
