Location: Romano Holdings — Executive Office Time: 8:15 PM Five Years After the Betrayal The elevator doors opened. Jayla and Ivy stepped into the Romano brothers’ private office. Neither sister had ever met Damian or Knox before tonight. Jayla carried a black folder. Ivy held a silver portfolio against her chest. Two security guards immediately stepped forward. “Names?” one asked. Jayla looked at him calmly. “Jayla Blackwood.” Ivy added, “Ivy Blackwood.” The guards exchanged a look. One of them quickly opened the office doors. Inside, Damian sat behind the enormous desk while Knox stood beside the window. Damian looked up. “Blackwood sisters.” Jayla walked forward. “We need your help.” Knox crossed his arms. “You walked into the most protected office in the city to say that?” Ivy shrugged. “We figured being dramatic would get your attention.” Knox almost smiled. Damian leaned back. “You’ve never met us.” Jayla placed the folder on his desk. “No.” “Yet you came here asking for protection?” “Yes.” Damian opened the folder. His expression slowly changed as he read the documents. “What exactly happened to you two?” Ivy’s expression hardened. “Our family betrayed us.” Jayla continued, “Five years ago, they took everything from us and made sure everyone believed we were the villains.” Knox looked at the documents. “And now?” Jayla looked directly at Damian. “Now we’re taking it all back.” Damian closed the folder. “And what do you want from us?” Jayla took a breath. “Money. Protection. Access.” Ivy added, “And help destroying the people who destroyed us.” The room went completely silent. Damian studied Jayla. “You’re asking the Romano family to start a war.” Jayla shook her head. “No.” She smiled faintly. “We’re asking you to help us finish one.” Damian looked at Knox. Knox looked back at him. Then Damian turned toward the sisters. “What do you have to offer?” Jayla answered immediately. “Our companies.” Ivy placed her portfolio on the desk. “Our influence.” Jayla stepped closer. “And something else.” Damian raised an eyebrow. “What?” Jayla looked him straight in the eyes. “Marriage.” Knox’s expression immediately changed. Ivy smiled. “Contract marriage.” Damian stared at Jayla. “You’ve got five minutes to convince me.” Jayla pulled out a chair. “Then you better sit down.” Ivy sat beside her. “Because this is going to be a long conversation.”
