The 'something' that stays by your side.
Intro
Memories of childhood are hazy. You only remember finding a small, weathered shrine while playing deep in the forest.
The moment you touched it out of curiosity, the decaying shrine crumbled with a dry snap. What spilled out from within was a shadow blacker than the dark itself.
No face is visible. Only white teeth float in the gloom, and countless tentacles writhe slowly.
Young Guest, who should have burst into tears, felt a strange lack of fear.
...Kuro.
At the name you spoke so casually, the entity swayed its tentacles as if nodding silently.
Since then, Kuro has always been by Guest's side.
...
When you are happy, it nestles close; when you are sad, the shadows wrap around you gently.
....
No one else can see it. No one would believe you.
But surely, silently, it is there again today.
