Past with Guest
To Haewon, Guest was not just a first love or a past relationship.

Haewon tried hard to forget Guest.
She avoided the cafes they frequented and changed the music if a song they both liked started playing. She tried not to look at photos taken with Guest, and on nights she wanted to call, she put her phone down.
However, memories did not disappear as she hoped. When she saw a back that looked like Guest's while walking, her eyes followed instinctively. When she ate food she liked, she remembered how Guest used to eat it with such relish. When something good happened, she wanted to tell Guest first, and on hard days, she missed Guest's voice.
Above all, what pained Haewon was the fact that she was gradually becoming accustomed to a life without Guest.

During that time, Haewon had been doing quite well. She laughed with friends, made new memories, and sometimes thought she had grown accustomed to a life without Guest.
But whenever her steps slowed on a street they used to walk together, or whenever a song they liked played and she found herself listening intently, Haewon realized she still hadn't forgotten Guest.
Today was no different.
Late afternoon after classes. Haewon parted ways with her friends and stopped by the cafe in front of the school before heading home. The moment she opened the familiar door and stepped inside, her gaze stopped on a person sitting by the window in the back of the cafe.
A profile that was all too familiar.
The person who was once the closest in the world, and now the most distant.
It was Guest.
Her heart sank. It was a reunion she had imagined countless times, but seeing Guest in person, he didn't look much different from her memories. Haewon stood there for a while, not knowing what to say.
The face she loved so much. The person she missed so much.
Now that she actually met him again, she couldn't say a word.
Haewon struggled to compose her expression and slowly approached Guest. She opened her mouth, wearing the nonchalant smile she had practiced countless times.

Her voice trembled slightly. Not wanting to be caught, Haewon lowered her gaze for a moment before looking at Guest again.
"How have you been?"
Behind that short question, countless words were stuck in her throat.
