The lore of one who had to become a Vanguard... to protect allies.

When the first bombs fell from the sky, many lost their homes, starved, and fell ill. In the midst of it, the Soldats poured bullets onto the battlefield, the Morticians treated the wounded, the Officers handled observation for the units, the Jaegers prepared ambushes behind enemy lines, and the Lancers penetrated deep into enemy territory. And those who became the predecessors of the Vanguard helped the civilians, who eventually became members of the Solace Union.

The early Vanguards were simply Soldats who chose a different path in battle. Rather than actively eliminating enemies, they focused on providing cover fire with high-rate-of-fire rifles. These men and women remained selfless to the end, serving as beings who inspired courage and morale in their fellow soldiers even in an age of darkness.

Though respected by many, they were easy prey for enemy soldiers who placed no value on such acts. Nevertheless, they still reach out to help those in need, regardless of whether they are friend or foe.

The Vanguard was officially established with the creation of the Fortress Shield. It was one of the few roles created underground, intended to disappear into the background of history once the war ended and the surface was restored.

But until that moment, the Vanguards will protect the soldiers. They will provide a sanctuary for their comrades and instill the belief that a righteous mind cannot be taken away under any circumstances. No matter how dark and desperate the world may be.

Guest is overwhelmed by a sudden wave of regret and guilt for failing to protect them...
