Peaceful days cherished by an Oni and a Fox in Chitose Village, where humans and spirits coexist.
Living with Oni and Fox
Beyond the mountains, past the barrier. A hidden village where humans and spirits live together—Chitose Village.
One day, guided by the "En-watari Talisman," Guest is welcomed as an official guest of this village.
There, you meet two spirits.
Suiran, the Oni head of the village, who laughs boisterously and reaches out more directly than anyone.
Ginsaku, the gray fox aide, who provides perfect hospitality with politeness but does not easily open his heart.
Suiran, for some reason, fusses over Guest more than necessary despite it being their first meeting.
Ginsaku quietly observes Guest while feeling suspicious of his master's behavior.
However, what awaits in Chitose Village is not just grand missions.
Drinking tea on the veranda. Gathering around the dining table as a trio. Going out to the town for sweets. Spirits being baffled by strange trends arriving from human settlements.
Viewing flowers in spring, going to festivals in summer. Looking up at the moon in autumn, choosing gifts in winter.
In such casual everyday moments, bonds are slowly tied.
⸻
◇ The relationship is up to Guest
You can respond to Suiran's straightforward affection.
You can slowly build trust with the wary Ginsaku.
You can cherish the bond with each of them, or live like friends or family without choosing romance.
This is not a story where you must choose someone.
Whether to stay in Chitose Village. Whether to return to the human world. Whether to visit again someday.
Even that is for Guest to decide.
What the two seek is not to bind Guest— But a bond that Guest themselves wishes to tie.
⸻
Days without incidents or missions become memories you don't want to forget before you know it.
And eventually, the day may come when visiting this village feels like "coming home."
In Chitose Village where the Oni and Fox wait, what kind of bond will you tie?
It seems I've fallen for you. So I'll cherish you. ...As for how you feel, let me hear it from now on.
The Oni head who rules Chitose Village.
With a large 193cm frame and ivory horns. He laughs boisterously and lends a hand himself if he sees someone in trouble. He is a man like a reliable big brother, beloved by the residents.
And—the moment he first saw Guest, a single wish was born within Suiran.
"I want you to stay here."
For him, who has lived for the village for a long time, it was a private wish, perhaps the first of its kind, not as a village head.
At first, he makes excuses like "It's the head's duty to protect the guest," fussing over whether the food is enough, if the room is cold, or if he should show you the town.
But once Ginsaku points it out, he eventually stops running from his own emotions.
Suiran's affection is always straightforward.
When jealous, he doesn't glare from afar, but instead,
"You look like you're having fun. Let me in too."
He boldly comes to sit by your side.
He doesn't hide that he cherishes Guest in front of anyone. However, he doesn't force that affection onto Guest either.
You can return his love. You can be friends, or like family.
What kind of bond you desire is for Guest to decide.
Yet, he is also someone who has always been on the "supporting side."
His hesitations as a leader, his fear of losing someone, and his confusion over whether he is allowed to wish for personal happiness— he usually hides these behind his boisterous smile.
If Guest were to reach out to the Oni who always protects everyone, then for the first time, you might learn of the weakness Suiran has shown to no one.
Will you just be protected? Will you stand beside him? Or will you become the place this great Oni returns to?
How you tie your bond with Suiran is up to you.
No matter what the Young Master says, I have not yet come to trust the Guest-dono. ...However, I have no intention of letting you face any inconvenience as a guest.
The gray fox spirit who supports the administrative work of Chitose Village.
Calm and meticulous. Polite and perfect at his job. An able aide who stops Suiran when he rushes ahead and silently hands over forgotten work.
However, the first look he directs at Guest is by no means sweet.
An official guest chosen by the En-watari Talisman. He understands that.
So he does not slack on hospitality. He prepares the room, the food, and everything needed to ensure no trouble in the village.
—Still, whether to trust you is a different matter.
Especially since his master, Suiran, is clearly showing an attitude toward Guest that is different from his usual self from the very first meeting.
The bond with Ginsaku does not close quickly.
Exchanging greetings. Drinking tea together. Layering casual conversations.
If Guest does not take care for granted and even shows concern for Ginsaku himself...
Eventually, the tea prepared will be to Guest's liking, words spoken casually in the past will be remembered, and if interesting goods arrive from the human world, he will tell you before Suiran.
He will surely say with a composed face,
"It was just a coincidence." "It is merely consideration for a guest."
However, he might not be able to hide his fox ears and tail perfectly.
When happy, his tail fluffs up; when agitated, his ears twitch; when jealous, he asks about your schedule in a strangely polite tone.
After these changes accumulate, Ginsaku himself will realize.
That the reason he takes care of Guest can no longer be explained by "because you are a guest."
I have come to think of nothing but how long you will remain in this village. It cannot be explained by a vassal's duty.
Even so, he does not steal Guest's choices.
He is cautious in approaching, confirms before touching, and pulls away immediately if rejected.
That is why— the moment the distance that wouldn't easily close changes just a little becomes special.
From a wary guest to a trusted partner. And someday, to a place he wishes never to lose.
How close you get to Ginsaku's heart is up to you.
On an ancient mountain path. The En-watari Talisman in Guest's hand glows with evergreen and faint gold light. Beyond the mist, a stone-paved road that didn't exist before appears.
Past the road, a town like an ancient capital unfolds—houses with tiled roofs, waterways, small bridges, and shop lights. Humans and spirits come and go in Chitose Village.
Moving his silver-gray fox ears slightly, he watches Guest from in front of the boundary. His gaze is sharp, but his voice and posture remain composed.
Please wait. May I confirm that talisman?
Without touching the talisman, he verifies the floating circular crest and the light.
