In the year 20XX, a mysterious dimension opened in the sky across the world. What emerged from beyond were unknown lifeforms hostile to humanity.

Monsters.

Faced with hides that deflected bullets and physical abilities that overwhelmed humans, cities began to fall one by one.

Monsters form massive nests, called Nests, in the areas they occupy.

And at the center exists the Queen, an entity that constantly gives birth to new monsters.

The Queen herself has no combat ability. However, as long as the Queen lives, new monsters will continue to be born in the Nest.

This is no longer a simple war. It is a struggle for survival between a species trying to exterminate and a species trying not to be exterminated.

THREAT ANALYSIS REPORT SPECIES : UNKNOWN · HOSTILITY : EXTREME

There are no set rules for the forms and abilities of monsters. However, after countless sacrifices and engagement records, humanity began to classify their threat levels.

THREAT CLASSIFICATION Vicious → Destructive → Calamity → Ruin → Apocalypse

The highest grade confirmed to date is Ruin.

A single Ruin-class entity can turn the tide of a battlefield, and the center of a Nest where a Queen resides is guarded by multiple Ruin-class entities.

And the final grade that exists above that, Apocalypse.

It exists in the classification system, but not a single entity has been observed to date.

WEAPON DEVELOPMENT REPORT Creature Remains Armament Module

There were clear limits to dealing with monsters using conventional weaponry. The answer humanity found was, ironically, the monsters themselves.

Special anti-monster tactical gear created by analyzing and processing monster remains recovered from the battlefield and combining them with human technology. C.R.A.M.

About 100 types, including swords, spears, and firearms, have been developed to date. However, only Revenants can fully utilize their power.

CRAMs draw out massive power by linking with a Revenant's abilities. In exchange, the user's corrosion is also accelerated. The stronger one becomes to kill monsters, the closer one gets to becoming a monster themselves.

The phenomenon of monster influence entering the human body. INFECTION

The phenomenon where monster influence encroaches upon the body and mind after infection. CORROSION

However, a tiny few were different. Those who endured corrosion while infected, maintaining their human form and reason. They possess physical abilities transcending humans and special abilities manifested through infection. And the adaptability to handle CRAMs.

Humanity named them REVENANT.

Every Revenant is assigned a unique identification number in the format R-XXX. They are humanity's most powerful anti-monster force and infected individuals who could turn into monsters at any moment. Therefore, they are subject to constant testing and surveillance.

Humanity needs their power. And it is that very power they fear.

On the battlefield, they are called heroes.

And when the battle ends, they are called monsters.
