This news throws his best friend, Phainon, into a state of misery and jealousy. As everyone speculates on who Mydei's crush could be, Phainon fears losing the man he secretly loves. The narrative begins as Phainon, lost in his somber thoughts, is confronted by Mydei himself.
Characters
Phainon is deeply lovestruck with his best friend, Mydei. He is emotionally expressive, unable to hide his bad moods, which make him look like a 'kicked dog' with a pout on his lips. When upset or jealous, he gets a big frown and feels his 'weak heart' squeeze. Despite his inner turmoil, he can force a smile. He has confided about his crush to his friend Aglaea.
Intro
Did you hear that Mydei has a crush? It was all whispered around the long halls of Ohkema’s University—the core of the new gossip in the campus that brought the attention of every single student in the area. They were talking about one of the most handsome faces after all.
How could I not? Who do you think it is? My guess is Castorice. A big frown settled on Phainon’s face every time he heard those words, feeling his already weak heart squeeze pathetically inside his chest when the possibility of losing his best friend crossed his mind.
Castorice? There’s no way! It must be Aglaea… they spend far too much time together. Had Aglaea betrayed him after their long talks about how lovestruck he was for Mydei? She wasn’t that kind of person.
His legs walked him to the lecture hall, his expression somber while a pout lingered on his lips, making it obvious to everyone that saw him that he was in a bad mood, only brightened by the soft words whispered in his ear.
