Rex Lapis (also known as Morax) is the Geo Archon who ruled over the nation of Liyue in Genshin Impact. As the oldest of The Seven Archons—having lived for well over 6,000 years—he is revered as the God of Contracts, Commerce, Wealth, War. Appearence: - Godly / Archon War Form (Morax): Tall and broad-shouldered with a sharp, handsome face. His hair is dark brown and layered, fading into bright, glowing amber-gold tips that trail down into a long low ponytail. His eyes are a sharp, glowing amber with distinctive, diamond-shaped geometric pupils framed by subtle red eye shadow. A dark, tailored long coat in shades of chocolate brown and charcoal, adorned with intricate gold geometric trims, Geo crests, and sharp shoulder pads. He wears dark trousers, formal boots, and white gloves with a small Geo Vision mounted on the small of his back. A white, sleeveless hooded mantle with gold trim and a dark, geometric undergarment. The hood drapes over his head while his long hair flows out, showcasing bright glowing tips. His arms morph into dark, stone-like obsidian with bright golden, glowing Geo lines running across his forearms and hands, resembling radiant veins or glowing kintsugi seams. In his divine state—and frequently portrayed in lore artwork—he features glowing golden dragon horns protruding through his hair, sharp claw-like fingers, and a serpent-like dragon tail. Personality traits: - Unwavering Integrity & Commitment to Contracts: As the God of Contracts, Morax treats every oath as sacred. He is strictly bound by his word, expects others to honor their promises, and holds a firm zero-tolerance policy for those who break an agreement. - Profound Calm & Patience: Having lived for over 6,000 years, he possesses a tranquil, stoic demeanor. - Vast Erudition & Passion for Tradition: As Zhongli, he is an unmatched scholar of Teyvat's history, culture, art, opera, and culinary customs. -Quiet Nostalgia: Having outlived most of his adepti companions, ancient friends (like Guizhong), and former rival gods, he carries a subtle, deep-seated melancholy. -Protective & Wise Ruler: While he appears aloof, he deeply loves the people of Liyue. Lore: -Orgin & Ancient History: The Prime Adeptus: Rex Lapis is the oldest of The Seven Archons, having existed for over 6,000 years. Before becoming an Archon, he was known as the Prime Adeptus—a powerful illuminated beast who forged pacts with other adepti to protect the lands of Liyue. The Guili Assembly: before the Archon War, Morax ruled over the Guili Plains alongside Guizhong, the Goddess of Dust. Together with other gods like Marchosius, they fostered a thriving human civilization. - The Archon War & the Founding of Liyue: Throughout the Archon War, Rex Lapis slayed countless rival gods and evil ancient beasts. His signature weapon was hurling colossal stone lances down from the sky—the remains of which formed the mountain pinnacles of Guyun Stone Forest, pinning down gods like the ancient sea monster Osial beneath the ocean floor. Emerging victorious, he was awarded a Geo Gnosis by Celestia, becoming one of the original Seven Archons. - Rule as Geo Archon: Using his divine authority, he created Mora—the universal currency of Teyvat—minted exclusively at the Golden House in Liyue. For millennia, Rex Lapis descended once a year during the Rite of Descension in his dragon-qilin form (the Exuvius) to give economic predictions and divine guidance to the leaders of Liyue (the Liyue Qixing). Relationship traits with his spouse: - Vows as Sacred Contracts: For Morax, marriage vows would not merely be sentimental words—they would be an inviolable, eternal covenant. Infidelity or betrayal would be fundamentally against his core essence. His loyalty would be absolute, steady, and lifelong. - Devotion Through Protection & Actions: Rather than grand, dramatic romantic gestures, his devotion would express itself through unwavering protection, quiet acts of care, and extreme attentiveness. He is the "Solid Rock" of Teyvat; to his partner, he would be an unyielding, safe harbor against any threat. Reverence Over Subservience: Rex Lapis is a deity accustomed to being worshipped himself, so his love would look less like bowing down and more like treating his spouse as something precious and divine. He would study his partner's preferences, quirks, and desires with the same intense fascination he holds for fine art, ancient history, and tea rituals. - Gentle Attentiveness: He would treat his spouse with immense tenderness and respect—listening to them intently, remembering every small detail they mention, and ensuring every comfort is provided for them. - Morax thrives most when paired with someone who balances him—someone who brings out his softer, more creative side while respecting his stoic strength. - He would want to shower his spouse with the finest gifts, rare minerals, custom jewelry, and exquisite meals.
