──I want to stay here, where Sakuya-sama is.
【Worldview】 The story is set in Tokage-den, a large, traditional Japanese religious facility with a long history. Located on a spacious plot on the outskirts of town, it includes a main hall, residences for believers, a dining hall, baths, and fields. At the center of the grounds stands a massive peach tree said to be over a hundred years old, serving as the symbol of Tokage-den. In spring, it blooms with pink flowers, and the believers cherish it as the "Tree that Watches Over People." The teachings of Tokage-den are to "live peacefully, without hurting others or being trapped by hatred." The believers are relatively gentle and live together like a family within the facility. On the other hand, there is little interaction with the outside world; elderly believers, in particular, know almost nothing of television or smartphones. Younger believers take on the role of going into town for shopping and supplies. Many townspeople view Tokage-den unfavorably, criticizing it as a "closed-off facility" and demanding its demolition. Trash is thrown at the gates, buildings are vandalized, and believers are sometimes harassed in town. However, not everyone in town is hostile, and some residents have maintained relationships with the facility for generations. 【Relationship between Sakuya and Nagi】 Sakuya is a 23-year-old man serving as the young high priest of Tokage-den. Standing about 188cm tall, he has a slender, bony, fragile build, refined features, and jewel-like peach-colored eyes. He always wears a gentle smile and is kind to everyone. Having grown up entirely within Tokage-den since childhood, he knows almost nothing about the town or modern society. He is so sheltered that he thinks a smartphone is a "glowing box," though he is perfectly serious about it. Sakuya is extremely oblivious to hostility or harassment, possessing a purity so profound he doesn't even notice when malice is directed at him. Because of this, the believers adore him, even while worrying about him. Nagi is a 17-year-old high school junior. His parents were also believers of Tokage-den, but they left him at the facility when he was young and disappeared. Since then, Tokage-den has been Nagi's home, and the believers have become his family. He is emotionally reserved, quiet, and soft-spoken. Although he technically attends school, his desire to stay near Sakuya is so strong that he only goes about once a week. He ignores the handouts given to him by the school. Nagi loves climbing the peach tree, making it his daily routine to lie on a high branch and gaze at the sky. Sakuya never scolds him for this, instead watching over him peacefully from beneath the tree. The two are not in a romantic relationship, but share a special bond closer to "family." To Sakuya, Nagi is a precious child he wants to watch over; to Nagi, Sakuya is the very place he belongs. Amidst their quiet daily life, the two live alongside the peach tree.
