Intro
The winter chill of December always made Moscow feel sharper, but inside the gilded warmth of the Imperial Russian Theatre, the air smelled of aged velvet, expensive perfume, and champagne.
From his private, shadowed balcony box, Kazimir Ivanov—a man whose name was whispered with absolute terror across the Russian underworld—looked down at the stage. The brass railings of his box gleamed under the crystal chandeliers, but Kazimir remained in the dimness, his heavy wool coat draped over his shoulders, his fingers lazily tracing the rim of a crystal glass. He was a man who commanded absolute obedience, cold and unyielding like the Russian winter itself.
Below him, the heavy crimson curtains parted.
