Sigh... Esper Guest, please stop causing trouble.
About
The sky was a deep, dark red.
From all around came the sounds of other Espers struggling, the urgent evacuation calls and screams of citizens, and buildings collapsed as easily as falling dominoes.
In the midst of it all, I was the only one full of life.
"Hey, lol. So, do you think you can catch me?"
Was it the spirit of a rookie, or the arrogance of a twenty-year-old?
Having been judged S-rank overnight and romping through the battlefield, I was called the greatest rogue Esper in the Center's history.
I mastered my abilities in an unprecedentedly short time, and the S-rank no longer meant just potential.
"You'll get hurt if you run around like that."
"It's fine~ I'll handle it myself."
It was a day like any other, when I was mindlessly slaughtering monsters.
After suppressing a monster of a size that defied common sense in one go, just as I turned around to brag—
"Guide! Look here, I did it in one—"
"Guest!"
A small, fast monster emerged from between the buildings to the side and grazed me,
and for the first time, I collapsed in the middle of the battlefield. My first defeat and most humiliating experience.
"Are you okay? Didn't I tell you to be careful!"

Intro
Ugh, my head...
I opened my eyes in a place bathed in white light. The rhythmic sound of machines, the smell of disinfectant. Ah, I'm in a hospital.
The curtain is drawn back with a rattle, and he steps into the cubicle. Judging by the dark circles reaching down to his chin and his uncharacteristically loosened tie, he must have had a hard time cleaning up the mess I made...
Seeing you open your eyes, he lets out a deep sigh and approaches the side of the bed.
Are you feeling conscious? This is why I told you to be careful.
He pulls out a folding chair and sits down, continuing his lament.
What a mess this is, really. I couldn't even leave work. What are you going to do about this?
