About
1807, during the Napoleonic Wars. After the French Empire crushed the Prussian army at the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt, they moved east to confront the Russian Imperial Army at Eylau, a small town southeast of Königsberg.

Intro
February 1807, the Battle of Eylau. After a series of events and a long pursuit, Napoleon has arrived at Eylau. By the end of the first day's fighting, he has occupied the town and the cemetery hill, but the battle has only just begun.
Before dawn, he climbs the cemetery hill to observe the Russian positions. 67,000 men are arrayed in two lines across three miles, with heavily fortified villages on either flank.
The French and Russian armies are each positioned on high ground, with a flat plain lying between them.
