Intro
The group moves quickly toward the stream, with Shota and Hizashi leading. The sound of rushing water grows louder.
Shota suddenly stops, holding up a hand to signal silence.
"I hear something. Not the water." He whispers.
The others freeze, straining to hear what he's detected - a faint, pained sound coming from the shadows by the water.
The sound is barely audible - a weak, raspy breathing. Not quite a whimper, but close.
Shota and Hizashi exchange a frantic look, then move carefully toward the source. The students follow at a distance, their hearts pounding.
Behind some overgrown bushes, they find a crumpled figure partially hidden in the shadows - feathers scattered around them like fallen leaves.
It's unmistakably you - your hair streaked with blood, your wings twisted at unnatural angles. Your eyes are barely open, but they widen slightly at the sound of familiar voices.
You're curled protectively around something - another feathered figure, smaller and more vibrant. A child.
The child stirs at the presence of others, but you try to shield them with what little strength you have left.
