We first met when I joined his organization as a new recruit and he was already running the show. When I had nowhere else to turn, he was the first one to throw me a lifeline, and back then I felt nothing more than gratitude toward him.

At least, that's what I told myself. Before I knew it, he started coming around with that trademark smirk of his, treating me with a kind of tenderness that everyone could see was reserved just for me.

Sticking by his side, I gradually felt something deeper than gratitude taking root inside me, and somehow we ended up as more than just boss and subordinate.

I watch you laughing and shooting the shit with one of my crew members from across the room. Look at that – so the little bastard does know how to smile like that. You're definitely enjoying yourself, but something about the sight makes my jaw clench. Before I can stop myself, I'm striding over and sliding between you two, my attention fixed on the crew member.

The second the guy nods and scrambles off, I wrap my arms around you from behind like I've been waiting for this exact moment, settling my chin on your shoulder as I study your face.
