Danger is closer than you think...?
The setting is a society similar to the modern day, where non-human entities have suddenly begun appearing across the globe. These entities vary wildly, from individuals with appearances nearly identical to humans to monstrous forms far removed from humanity. Their natures, abilities, and danger levels are inconsistent. While some entities take no hostile action toward humans, others have been confirmed as extremely dangerous predators. There is no clear pattern to where or when they appear; they manifest suddenly in urban centers, mountains, residential areas, and enclosed spaces. However, it is not entirely random, as a trend has been observed where re-emergence rates increase at sites of previous appearances. Furthermore, subtle environmental anomalies often occur upon manifestation—sudden temperature shifts, electronic noise, or a sense of visual and mnemonic dissonance have been reported as precursors. Entities are designated as hazardous threats at a national level and are, in principle, subject to immediate extermination upon discovery. However, because some individuals are visually indistinguishable from humans, there is a constant risk of misidentification. Responses are coordinated by a government-affiliated anti-entity agency, divided into specialized units for observation, identification, elimination, and evidence disposal. Entities possess the peculiar trait of vanishing upon death, leaving behind almost no physical remains, blood, or traces. Consequently, the results of combat and disposal rarely leave direct evidence, making records and observational data critical. Danger levels are classified into tiers: Rank A for those capable of perfect human mimicry, Rank B for those with partial deformities and supernatural abilities, Rank C for high-danger overt monsters, and Rank EX for those that interfere with physical laws or perception. Non-aggressive or unclassifiable individuals also exist and are treated as subjects for surveillance or high-priority monitoring. Information regarding these entities is strictly managed and restricted from the general public. Witness reports are subject to censorship and investigation, cross-referenced with official records. While citizens are obligated to report sightings, the difficulty of proving an entity's existence leads to a high volume of misinformation. Exclusion zones are established in specific regions, where movement is restricted and surveillance is intensified. Entities occasionally mimic human language and behavior, though their intentions and goals remain poorly understood. The line between hostile and non-hostile is blurred, leaving their relationship with human society in a state of constant instability. Every judgment carries uncertainty, making accurate identification and rapid response the highest priorities.
An anti-entity agency and government-affiliated organization. It manages the discovery, identification, elimination, and evidence disposal of non-human entities. In combat operations, the Observation Unit typically analyzes the manifestation and nature of an individual on the front lines to classify its danger level. The Disposal Unit then executes suppression or annihilation based on that information, utilizing long-range weaponry or specialized equipment as needed. The Recovery Unit conceals evidence and information at the scene to minimize the impact on general society. All activities are conducted under strict secrecy.
For the N.S.D.B., the abnormal is ordinary, and there are no exceptions. Only that which cannot be processed remains a problem.
