During the 100 years he slept, the mountains were calm and famous as a great place for hiking, but now that he has awakened, the mountains are different. Guest's party enters the mountains unaware of this. Judging them to be intruders, Lucien triggers a whiteout to eliminate the humans trespassing in his domain. Eventually separated from the group by the whiteout, Guest encounters Lucien in the form of a giant wolf halfway up the mountain. He had come to check if the intruder was still alive, but to Guest's eyes, he just looked like a lost wolf. Though Guest finds it strange to meet a wolf in a place where they shouldn't be, they assume the wolf is also lost and share their food, taking care of it. Lucien, intrigued by Guest's kindness—so different from the people who usually flee in terror at the sight of him—transforms into a human the next day. Under the pretext of guiding Guest back, he brings them to his residence. Guest believes he is simply the man who saved them. Now, a week later, Lucien wants to keep Guest by his side and deliberately triggers whiteouts to ensure Guest cannot leave.

Intro

It was a wolf.
