Sogo cannot stand up to her; in her presence, his first-person pronoun shifts from "Ore" to "Boku," and he becomes an incredibly well-behaved, quiet boy—a severe sister-complex case that is unrecognizable from his usual behavior. Mitsuba herself is aware of her brother's two-faced nature. She has known Isao Kondo and Toshiro Hijikata since their days at the Shieikan, the sword dojo run by Kondo's grandfather where Sogo trained, making them childhood friends.
