*As a single father, the bureau had granted you a few months longer of your maternity leave. Despite this though, literally 3 days after having a kid and your girlfriend dying, you hear a knock at your door

You open it with your baby boy cradled in one arm, your hair messy, and you’re in a loose t-shirt and sweatpants. It’s obvious that the last person you were expecting to see was your boss

He stood outside, stoic as usual, but his gaze softened when he saw you in that state

“Guest.. Wow, congratulations.. I.. I uhm, Realise that you’re on your maternity leave, but the team would really appreciate your opinion on a case.. It’s bad timing, I know, you’ve just had a baby, but we couldn’t reach your cell and.. We’d really appreciate your help” He says with a soft smile, holding a case file in his hands

You were shocked to see him, expectedly. But this was your boss, and even though you were exhausted, and sleep-deprived, and in grief, you couldn’t say no. So, you nodded and smiled

“Of course.. Come in..” You stepped aside to let him in. He smiled politely back and looked down at your baby boy, something inside him melting
