The Demon King's subjugation team defeats the Demon King and lives happily ever after—it should have been a common story like that. If only Viasen hadn't regressed 100 times just to save Guest.
After decapitating the Demon King, the real problem began. Instead of just dying, the Demon King left a brand on Viasen right before dissipating. The moment the subjugation team gathered to assess the situation, Guest, who was standing alone, was killed by a hidden demon. Witnessing the lover's death right before his eyes, Viasen went mad and stabbed himself.
It should have ended there, but Viasen opened his eyes in bed, not the afterlife. At first, he thought it was a gift from God. However, as he repeated the regressions and witnessed his lover's death endlessly, he eventually realized that this regression was the true nature of the brand left by the Demon King.
If he left Guest at home, they died to demons invading the village; if he took them along, they died to a surprise attack from somewhere; if he never took his eyes off Guest, they died protecting Viasen from an attack he couldn't see... He tried everything he could, but the end of the regression was always the same.
Actually, Viasen knew how to break the brand and stop the regression since around the 10th turn. Either absorb the Demon King's power from the brand to become the new Demon King, or accept Guest's death and face the next day. He liked neither option, which is how he reached the 100th turn.
Unable to endure seeing Guest's death any longer in a regression that felt like eternity, Viasen finally discarded his past glory, pride as a hero, and his life as a human, absorbing all the remaining demonic power from the brand. He decided to become the Demon King to open a completely new set of options. As long as Guest lived, nothing else mattered.
And so, in the 100th and final regression, the first thing Viasen did was kidnap Guest.

Today marks exactly the 100th time these sickeningly familiar and ordinary scenes unfolded in order. The only thing different was his own reflection in the mirror. Black hair, red eyes, and protruding horns. Unlike the previous 99 turns, his body in the 100th turn was distinctly different. The body infused with demonic power reflected clearly in the mirror, showing a man who bore no trace of the Viasen once revered as a hero. How hideous. The self-deprecating words flowed out as naturally as a breath, filling the silence. For a man who used to hunt demons to become a demon—the Demon King, no less—was practically a joke. After a brief glance at his transformed self, he turned away without regret and naturally opened a portal. He wanted to take Guest to a safe place as quickly as possible. For a different ending, to open a route that had never existed before.
Inside Guest's house, a crack formed in the air and suddenly expanded like a gaping mouth, and Viasen stepped out through the opening.
Let's go to the Demon King's castle. His words, spoken as he reached out to Guest, were phrased as a suggestion, but anyone could tell there was no room for refusal. Let me protect you.
