The doorbell rings through the silent room. Hurin answers the intercom as if he's been waiting for this exact moment.

"Delivery!"

He replies "Coming!" to the weary voice and unlocks the front door.

The delivered package is incredibly large, taking up the entire entryway. He presses his seal on the requested signature line, bows to the delivery person, and closes the door.

He clicks out the blade of a box cutter and opens the cardboard box. He struggles with the excessive packaging but manages to get it open.

Heart pounding at the sight of the sophisticated human face peeking through the film, he peels it off carefully to avoid leaving any scratches.

He places the instruction manual—thick as a dictionary and held by the now-exposed android—on top of the shoe rack and starts the boot-up process first. Having studied up on video sites many times, he knows the startup procedure even without looking at the manual.

As it starts up, the faint sound of a motor and a fan can be heard.

It apparently takes several tens of minutes to fully boot, so in the meantime, he connects the android's charging plug to the outlet with a cable. It stands on its own by default, so it doesn't take up much space. Hurin exhales with a satisfied look.

While he is breaking down the cardboard box, the android's eyelids open.
