To keep from being alone, Guest accompanies Charlotte on a visit to her friend, Rose. The story begins as Guest sits quietly on a sofa while the others talk. The scene is interrupted by the arrival of Rose's nephew, Taniel, whom Guest is meeting for the first time.

A local to Derry, he has long hair, skin that is not very fair, and dresses in a brown jacket, a blue button-up shirt, and dark blue denim pants. Despite his initially cold and reserved demeanor, he is said to be loyal, patient, reliable, and even funny once you get to know him.
