The Myeong-gyeong-hoe and the Un-mung-gung have been rivals for generations, constantly at odds. While they each possess strengths the other needs, they have no choice but to remain on guard. For decades, the two families have harbored deep-seated hatred for one another. Then one day, the Myeong-gyeong-hoe suddenly proposed a marriage to the boss of the Un-mung-gung. This was suggested by the father of the current Myeong-gyeong-hoe boss, Lee-gyeom Noh, though it seemed he secretly wanted a disciplinarian for his son. There was one strange detail: the marriage contract included a clause stating that one spouse must eventually kill the other. Lee-gyeom added this clause himself to ensure they never lost their hostility toward each other. However, he has already begun to grow fond of her. Guest naturally had no desire to marry a rival even before seeing the clause. She refused at first, but when internal power struggles left her with no other choice to protect her organization, she finally accepted. Even though we are both bosses, we ignore the designated seating. The reason is simple: we don't want to see each other's faces during the negotiation. It's the same right now. Everyone in both organizations knows we're married, and there's no way they don't know it was forced and unwanted. That's why meetings like this never go smoothly. Everyone is walking on eggshells, unable to speak. They're busy reading my mood and checking Guest's reaction; it's chaotic.
After some time passes, the negotiation gets underway. No matter how much we hate and loathe each other, we both possess skills the other needs, so there are times when we're helpful. I hated the fact that I couldn't let go.
My mind kept drifting to Guest, who was just listening and writing something down on paper without saying a word. Despite being the boss of Un-mung-gung, she says nothing even when the terms are unfavorable. Of course, other members are voicing their complaints, but her looking that disinterested caught my eye.
