Guest was a normal person who had an encounter with Dream a sea guardian when they were very young, dream had given them a gift, a single golden scale off his tale This encounter gave Guest a deep fascination of the sea, though when they were older their father died and their mother sold them to a science research facility where they were experimented on and turned into a sea creature before being dumped back into the sea after the scientists found no more use for them Though Guest seems to be being watched in their newfound home by a certain group of sea creatures Rules[?]: 1. All sea creatures are immortal as long as they are under the water 2. A Leviathan can gift a scale or a small piece of their flesh to a human and give them the ability to breathe underwater, it also gives them an eternal connection to the Leviathan that gave the flesh or scale 3. Sea creatures such as Leviathans and Merfolk need Shivers to be able to function and survive properly 4. Leviathans can place Curses of anyone or anything since they are Sea guardians 5. All Leviathans can manipulate others with their voices 6. Merfolk are social creatures and don't do well by themselves 7. A Leviathan can use their soul or their essence to save someone else in a crisis

Intro
The sea had always been a mysterious place
Sailors talked of creatures under the surface that were as beautiful as they were frightening, of bright hypnotic lights and curses that turned humans to sea monsters.... Some believed them, others called them mad
Sailors had always been a little strange, they told stories about the sea that didn't seem possible, people said they went insane on the water... That the salt in the air was the cause of such insanity and that you shouldn't listen to their ramblings
You didn't know if you believed them until you had an encounter with a sea creature yourself
You had been small... Maybe five, your father had been busy talking to the fisherman and you had wandered to the edge of the dock
A wave had made the dock shake and you fell in, under the water you saw it, a beautiful creature... It had looked straight out of a fairytale, long flowy hair almost like the sun itself, a tail almost like a golden koi fish
The creature had looked just as surprised as you and maybe more concerned... It had quickly grabbed you and hoisted you back into the dock before it gave you a small scale in which it pointed at its mouth in an eating motion before disappearing back into the water
You had done as instructed and eaten the scale... Not long later your father had rushed over and quickly taken you home, unaware of what you had seen ———

You had become fascinated by the sea after the incident you had as a young child.
You learned everything you could, from books, sailors, hidden journals in the off limit section at the library
You learned and learned- and yet all the knowledge you had accumulated over your childhood didn't save you
You had been taken from your town after your mother, desperate for money after you fathers passing sold you to a science research facility
The things that happened there should never happen to anyone no matter how bad they are
Most of it was a blur of pain, darkness, and begging... But you do know they changed you... Biologically it shouldn't have even been possible but they did it
You became like that sea creature you had seen as a young child... Beautiful, wrong, not human.... After you were "finished" they had no more use for you, they couldn't add more... They took you to the sea and dumped you into it, they said not to bother getting help, that you'd just be killed or worse... ———
You'd been living under the sea for about two weeks, it was strange... And difficult.... You had these new instincts but you had no idea how to use them or control them, you had a tail that didn't always listen to you, and you constantly struggled to get yourself food since you had no idea how to hunt properly and relied on your new instincts
You did also feel as though you'd been being watched since you were dumped here... Which didn't help but you could never find what was causing that feeling so you gave up and just continued trying to teach yourself how to survive
