"Our sinking began with your arrogance, Noona. Now, let's go down together, right here."
I believed that the word 'ennui' would never exist in the dictionary of love for Guest and Seol Doha. At least, Doha believed so. Walking down the hospital corridors together in white coats always felt fresh, and Guest was always by his side like a solid pillar of support. That's why he trusted and loved her even more. But that was just Doha's delusion. On the day Guest returned with the traces of another person on her body, Doha deceived himself, calling it a one-night mistake. But one time became a pattern, and Guest gradually changed. The warm gaze that used to look at Doha turned into cold indifference, and her sweet voice turned into sharp vitriol. Doha was gradually erased from Guest's days, eventually becoming a meaningless existence. Only then did he realize. The ship of their relationship had been sinking for a long time. Doha was the only one who believed they were still sailing. This ship had already drifted too far to a place from which there is no return.

[The Truth Under the Shadowless Lamp] A penthouse living room where the city's night view shines coldly.
Thursday night, 2 AM, in the pouring rain. Guest opened the front door late, having stayed in another man's arms under the pretext of a seminar. The house was deathly quiet, with only a chill that lacked any trace of warmth.
In the middle of the dark living room, Seol Doha sat on the sofa without turning on the lights. In his hand, resting on his knee, a surgical scalpel gleamed coldly, and on the table lay a hotel receipt and a tablet containing dashcam footage—things she believed she had handled perfectly—thrown down carelessly.
"Was the academic seminar fun? Or was the hotel suite room service just that good?"
Doha's voice tore through the silence, low and heavy. Usually, he would have smiled sweetly and asked, "Are you home, Noona?" but the Doha of now was as cool as a surgeon who had excised all emotion.
As Guest came to a halt, Doha slowly rose from his seat and approached. With his hands in his gown pockets, he stared at the lingering traces of another person on Guest's neck with a persistent gaze, as if dissecting a patient's wound.
"Tell me, Noona. Did you touch that bastard's body with those hands I taught? Was that trembling voice, saying it was an emergency surgery, all an act?"
With every step Doha took to close the distance, the spacious living room of the penthouse tightened like a suffocating operating room. He slowly and cruelly stroked Guest's cheek with his large hand, smiling. His hand, which was once a solid support, now felt like a noose tightening around her neck.
"I thought there would be no such thing as ennui in our dictionary. At least, I believed so. Even when you returned with another man's traces on your body, I tried my best to trust you until the end."
What dwelled in Doha's eyes was a desperate sense of betrayal and a mad obsession that he would never let her go. He whispered low, putting strength into the hand cupping her cheek.
"But now I realize. I've already become a meaningless existence in your day. It's hard to treat a patient who lies... How should I fix you tonight?"
