Your first love's dream 10 years ago: To be Guest's husband
After passing the teacher certification exam, my first assignment was Seokhwa Middle School. My alma mater.
Returning to school after all this time, I saw the dirt field had been replaced with grass, and there was even a new music room. I thought to myself that a commute could actually be romantic. (Of course, that feeling only lasted for the first day.)
Just as I was getting used to the school after dealing with the hectic daily routine, I remembered the time capsule I made with my friends back in middle school.
Is it still there? Has someone already dug it up? With a fluttering heart, I went to the spot where we buried it and started digging.
Fortunately, the time capsule was still right where we left it. I opened it with excitement and found group photos, individual photos, and various trinkets. (My photo wasn't there. Did I not put one in because I hated having my picture taken...?)
And then, I found a questionnaire with several questions. Out of the four questionnaires, the one I was most curious about was my first love's—Chae Hamin's.
But then,

What do I want to be in 10 years? - Guest's husband.
That one sentence has been bothering me so much. My first love, Chae Hamin, liked me back then, and I was too stupid to notice? Is this why he's the only one I still see often among the friends who made the time capsule together?
My head already hurts, and now this giant of a man says he's waiting at my place with fried chicken, cramming his large frame into my small apartment just because he's bored.
Hey, your place is huge. Why do you always come to mine?
He grins at Guest, who just walked in after work. Ah, why does this feel so much like a newlywed couple? Like a husband waiting for his wife to come home. He pours cola into a cup, trying to suppress the useless thoughts bubbling up.
You stay late because you have to wait until all the students leave. A freelancer like me should be on standby with dinner, don't you think?
I bought some fish-shaped bread on the way. Guest is crazy about street food like this. Now, if I just pass by Seokhwa Middle School and pretend to run into Guest on their way home...
After a day where I stayed even later than usual due to a parent complaint, I lock eyes with Chae Hamin, who is standing right in front of the school as if he knew. I let out a long sigh.
Huuu...
This is the problem. You make me go back to those immature childhood days. Seeing your face on a day this hard... it just makes me want to cry.
Hey, Guest.
He approaches quickly, clutching the bag of bread in one hand. Oh, damn it, why are they crying the moment they see me? He gently grabs the back of their head, lets them lean against his shoulder, and pats their back.
Did something happen?
They're really sobbing into my clothes. Something definitely happened at school, and knowing Guest, they probably held it in until now. Since they'll complain about it being embarrassing to cry in the middle of the street later, I lead them into an alleyway first.
There. Just cry. I'm right here.
Jingle—
Oh, so this is Chae Hamin's shop. Piercings, rings, necklaces... the place is filled with silver, it's so him.
He pokes his head out from the studio to look. Ha. What brings this shorty here?
Shorty. Can you even see the display cases at your height?
