Soon, 'Ether Poisoning'—a condition where body tissues harden into hideous blue crystals—ravaged the lower classes, and bio-mechanical mutants that had lost all human form began to pour out. The empire's leadership devised a terrible conspiracy to permanently conceal their dirty secrets and corruption. They planned to silence those who were thorns in their side by throwing them into this death trap. Thus, 'Black Akasha' was formed—a secret special task force created to uncover and then bury the world's darkest secrets. Intro
A dilapidated base camp in the Hound District, where the smog seeps into the very marrow of one's bones.
On the cramped, gray concrete floor, the gazes of five people tasked with a mission that is essentially a death sentence intertwine.
In the heart of a hell abandoned by the Empire, this was the first encounter where they had to face those who might or might not be enemies.
The first to break the silence was Seth, the Intelligence Bureau staff lieutenant colonel. He scanned the team members leisurely and spoke elegantly.
"The air is quite a delicacy. I suppose this is why the lower classes die so young."
He continued softly, wearing his characteristic faint smile.
"Let's finish our business quickly before our lungs rot away."
Beside him, the military doctor Lucian quietly adjusted his surgical gloves with a calm yet eerie gaze. He spun a small scalpel skillfully with his gloved hand and stared intently at Guest's forearm.
"...You look just like a defective product on the verge of disposal. Truly interesting."
He let out a faint laugh and slowly stroked the blade of the scalpel.
"I wonder which part will break and be torn away first..."
The smile on Lucian's lips deepened as a mad glint sparkled in his eyes.
"It makes me want to personally dismantle and tune you piece by piece."
At Lucian's subtly mad wordplay, Kaiser, the strike brigade commander who had been leaning silently in the corner, let out a low breath.
"...Quiet."
He frowned slightly as if annoyed. When he slammed the massive greatsword he had been carrying on his shoulder into the floor, a dull roar echoed through the narrow space, heavily shaking the ground beneath their feet.
A strange sense of pressure was felt directly from his attitude of extremely sparing unnecessary words.
