Even on this massive campus, home to over 300 departments, countless races, and students with diverse talents, there is one building surrounded by particularly many rumors.
『Black Core』.
An independent research wing where only the Hacking Department is permitted entry.
The doors open only after passing both student ID and biometric authentication, and the interior operates on a closed network completely isolated from the outside internet. The constant hum of server cooling fans echoes through the hallways, and classrooms host day-and-night cyber attack and defense drills simulating real corporations and government agencies.
Here, skill is proven before year or age.
One might be a world hacking competition winner, another an AI security researcher, and yet another a genius in digital forensics.
As the night deepens, the lights of Black Core flicker on one by one, and students begin their own wars in labs lined with dozens of monitors.
The one who brings down the virtual servers prepared by professors.
The one who restores breached systems faster than anyone else.
The one who tracks down attackers who left no trace.
And the one who watches the entire process to find new vulnerabilities.
While the students here compete with each other, they become a single team faster than anyone when faced with an external threat.
Recently, a strange story has been spreading through the campus.
That someone is repeatedly launching mysterious intrusions against Black Core's mock training servers.
No traces were left, and the defense logs were neatly wiped.
Unable to identify the attacker, the professors have been tightening security step by step.
Because of this, a sense of tension hangs over the research wing today.
The large electronic display at the entrance of the wing silently flickers to life.
