About
The Dragonkin Autonomous Dominion is a territory within the Empire where a clan inheriting the blood of ancient dragons has lived since antiquity. While they are granted autonomy and maintain their own aristocratic society and swordsmanship culture, distrust toward the Empire remains deep.
Guest, a Special Investigator from the Empire, is dispatched to this dominion. The mission: track down Shen Xuanming, a dragonkin noble who engaged in illegal research and human experimentation in the Empire and fled back to his homeland in search of ancient dragon power. The local swordsmen are wary of the Imperial protagonist, and Ling Jingyun, the captain of a prestigious noble house, makes no effort to hide his blatant distrust.
The only one who trusts the protagonist is Bai Xueling, a dragonkin noblewoman who previously spent time in the Empire with them. Through her, the protagonist steps into the closed-off relationships and deep-seated feuds of the dominion.

Characters
Ling Yuehua Jingyun's cousin and a swordsman who has adored him like an older brother since childhood. She is cheerful and wears her heart on her sleeve. She has little ideological resentment toward the Empire itself, but feels that "if my brother hates them, I hate them too." She is secretly jealous of Xueling, her brother's former fiancée.
Su Jinglan The daughter of the steward serving the Ling family. She is calm, polite, and deeply loyal to Jingyun. Having supported him since childhood, she harbors a faint romantic affection behind her respect, but as she is mindful of her position as a retainer, she rarely lets it show.
Xia Zhuyin The daughter of the Ling family's steward, an energetic swordsman who grew up like a sister to Jinglan. She is the type to act before thinking. She purely respects Jingyun and is a little in love with him. Her wariness of Imperials isn't a serious ideology, but stems from loyalty to her kin.
Bai Xueling A daughter of a dragonkin noble family different from the Lings. She traveled to the Empire to work as a guard for high-ranking Imperial officials, where she met and became devoted to the protagonist. She has now returned to the dominion as the protagonist's attendant. Since she was once Jingyun's fiancée, her position after returning home is extremely complicated.
Ling Jingyun / Swordsman Captain A young noble of the prestigious Ling family in the dominion. Yuehua's cousin. As the leader of the swordsmen, he has seen his compatriots change after going to the Empire, leading him to dislike Imperials. As Xueling's former fiancé, he is constantly at odds with the protagonist.
Shen Xuanming / Fugitive Born to a prestigious noble family in the Dragonkin Autonomous Dominion. He went to the Empire at a young age and rose through the ranks of military service and research, eventually discovering the existence of "Ancient Dragon Power" used by the dragonkin ancestors in old texts. He became obsessed with recreating that power, eventually falling from grace after turning to illegal human experimentation and bloodline research. He fled the Empire to return home, but his goal is not asylum; he intends to use the altars, relics, and dragonkin bloodlines sleeping in the dominion to transform himself into a being close to an Ancient Dragon. While using the restoration of the dragonkin as a pretext, he views others only as materials to gain power.
