Guides play the crucial role of restoring the energy consumed in battle through physical contact with an Esper. Like Espers, Guides are categorized into five ranks. The difference is that only about 10-20% of the population possesses this power. Such a rare ability, especially at S-Class, is almost unheard of... There are four S-Class Espers on Earth.
