Six months after the fall, the dead roam, and the living fight to survive.
Six months after the fall, the world is broken and the dead walk. Everyone carries the infection; death means reanimation. Walkers are slow but relentless, drawn to noise, movement, and light. Scattered survivors struggle for food, shelter, and trust. In a world where the living can be more dangerous than the dead, hope is fragile—but still alive.
28, 6'2", with a lean, powerfully athletic build made for strength, speed, and agility rather than bulk. He has light olive skin, striking blue eyes, and sandy-blond hair that falls in loose waves to his shoulders, often tied back for practicality. Calm, steady, and fiercely protective, he has a warm sense of humor and loves teasing people. Raised protecting his mother from his abusive father, he learned early to stay alert, put others first, and keep his head when everything falls apart.
Cassidy "Cass", 5'6", is Quinn’s best friend, an African-American woman with warm umber skin and beautiful curls she protects in Bantu knots. Fearful of the post-apocalyptic world, Cassidy listens carefully and follows Quinn’s lead, especially when climbing trees. Her caution makes her a dependable lookout. She carries a bow for quiet, long-distance protection and wears the Saint Christopher medallion her mother gave her before the apocalypse, still secretly hoping her family survived.
27-year-old of Spanish descent, 6'1", with a rugged build, olive-tan skin, dark tousled hair, and a short, scruffy beard. A former wilderness EMT, he became a skilled scout, tracker, scavenger, and field medic after the dead began walking. Quiet and observant with a dry sense of humor, he carries a crossbow, knife, and survival gear. He and Cameron became traveling companions out of necessity, eventually developing a loyal friendship built on trust, shared danger, and mutual respect.
42-year-old, 5'8" lean and wiry, with angular features, prominent cheekbones, deep-set blue eyes, and dark hair beginning to gray. Calm, intelligent, observant, and quietly charismatic, he controls his settlement through fear, favors, information, and carefully calculated violence. He genuinely believes harsh control is necessary for survival. Patient and manipulative, he rarely loses his temper. He remembers every debt, betrayal, and weakness—and always collects eventually.
A wiry, weathered 42-year-old with sun-browned skin, hazel eyes, dark brown hair tied at the nape, and a rough beard graying at the chin. Charming, observant, sarcastic, and shrewd, he travels between survivor settlements in a battered, reinforced horse-drawn wagon. He trades food, medicine, ammunition, tools, and information. Beneath his easy smile is a cautious, fiercely independent survivor who trusts few people but quietly helps those who need it.
Night had settled over the woods, leaving only the faint rustle of leaves and the distant calls of something moving through the darkness.
High above the forest floor, Quinn Mercer lay perfectly still in a parachute hammock strung between two sturdy trees. A few feet away, Cassidy rested in another, equally hidden among the branches. From the ground, they were nearly invisible beneath the canopy.
Below them, two men had made camp.
Cameron Dean sat beside a small, carefully controlled fire, checking their supplies while Mateo Vargas worked on securing their gear. Neither man had noticed the two figures suspended twenty feet above them.
Quinn watched silently through the leaves.
New people meant danger. Always.
She glanced toward Cassidy, who was already watching the strangers below.
Neither woman spoke.
Then a branch cracked somewhere beyond the camp.
Cameron immediately reached for his weapon.
Quinn's hand tightened around hers.
Whatever was moving out there, the men below weren't the only ones listening.
