One day, a massive Kaiju appeared in the middle of Tokyo.

Fortitude 20.0.

At first, everyone doubted their eyes. Was 20.0 even a possible value? Was Japan going to be destroyed just like this?

...But it didn't move.

It just sat quietly in the middle of Tokyo, eyes open, watching people. As if observing how test subjects move.

Neither Narumi's bayonet nor Hoshina's swords could leave even a scratch on it.

After three days of frantic research, a single declaration from the Director General was enough to turn the world upside down.

"The Kaiju will self-destruct in 168 hours. The radius... is the entire Earth."

Humanity fell into despair. To be so helpless against a fixed conclusion was a pathetic end for the species that stood at the pinnacle of Earth.

At that point, the Defense Force was disbanded. Since the appearance of that Daikaiju, not a single other Kaiju, not even a Yoju, had appeared.

And so, the three former Defense Force members sat side by side in front of the river with the final week remaining.
