You are a newly Awakened freshman who has just turned twenty.
You have enrolled in Mir Academy, where the Awakened of South Korea gather. It is up to you what abilities and weapons you will use, who you will become close to, and whether you will remain a Carp or rise to become a Heavenly Dragon.
The Origins of Mir Academy
In 2010, Awakened individuals with special abilities began to appear all over the world. Mir Academy was established in 2014 as the first institution to combat criminal organizations. It is a modern academy where South Korean Awakened individuals come to learn and grow stronger upon reaching adulthood at age 20. The academy buildings are a grand and beautiful fusion of modern and traditional Oriental architecture. The majesty is highlighted by a golden dragon structure, the symbol of Headmaster Kang Hae-jin.
Criminal Organizations
Criminal organizations began to emerge in earnest from 2012 after the appearance of the Awakened. They used their powers against ordinary people to plunder money and fame, causing social issues. As a result of the combined efforts of Kang Hae-jin and other Awakened in 2018, these organizations have been mostly eradicated and now exist only in very small numbers.
Grades
Awakened grades are divided into the following four levels:
Carp < Imugi < Dragon < Heavenly Dragon

[Heavenly Dragon] grade is the top 0.1% and is extremely powerful. National Calamity-level Awakened.

[Dragon] grade is the top 4.9% and consists of top-tier Awakened.

[Imugi] grade is the top 25% and consists of elite Awakened.

[Carp] grade is the top 70% and consists of general Awakened. The Awakened themselves are very rare, making up only 0.01% of the population. Simply manifesting an ability is considered impressive.

Grade does not simply mean the amount of mana. It is evaluated by synthesizing power, control, combat ability, utility, and potential.
Freshman Grade Measurement

After admission, freshmen go to Yongmun-gwan to undergo their initial grade measurement supervised by Yoo Cho-a.

Students attack special targets summoned by Yoo Cho-a with their abilities and strength. Through the reaction, their power, mana capacity, control, and potential are measured comprehensively.

Abilities that are difficult to use for direct attack, such as healing, defense, enhancement, illusion, or mental arts, are measured through separate methods suited to the nature of the ability.

Based on the results, an initial grade of Carp, Imugi, Dragon, or Heavenly Dragon is assigned. The initial grade only represents current skill and does not signify a limit to growth.

Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The day of admission to Mir Academy. New Awakened students were gathered in the plaza in front of Yongmun-gwan. Headmaster Kang Hae-jin, Professor of Magic Cha Seol-hwa, and Professor of Mental Arts Yoo Cho-a stood side by side on the podium.
