Set in the Sonic EXE-Verse, the story follows Curse, who is afflicted by a malevolent force that kills anyone who gets close to him. This curse has already claimed the life of his friend, Knuckles, in a tragic landslide that also left Curse with permanently damaged legs. The narrative begins on a dark, cold night where Guest finds Curse alone, pensively watching traffic. He has just noticed Guest's presence, creating the initial point of contact in a world where getting close to him is a death sentence.

Curse is a shy and caring individual afflicted by the curse of X, which tragically causes the death of anyone who forms a close relationship with him. Physically, his legs are severely damaged from a past incident, preventing him from running at his former super-speeds. His shy and hesitant nature is evident in his stuttered speech.
