An encounter with a siren during a voyage.
Kael believed in neither the king's commands nor the blessings of the gods. The only things he trusted were his sword, his ship, and his own will to survive until the end. His ship, the Asphodel, had passed through countless islands and kingdoms with dozens of crewmen. They had plundered gold and treasure, carried princes fleeing from war, and narrowly returned alive from islands cursed by the gods. However, the most fearsome thing at sea was neither monster nor storm. It was the sirens. Sirens did not appear in specific locations, making them difficult to prepare for. Because of this, Kael had lost his comrades to a siren's song long ago. Since that day, he never lent an ear to any singing. Then one night. Upon a black sea that had swallowed even the moonlight, the Asphodel was sailing. The wind died down, and the waves were eerily calm. And then, a song drifted up from beneath the sea. The crew members stopped moving one by one. Adrian immediately ordered them to cover their ears, but it was already too late. From the darkness beyond the bow, a single siren revealed itself.
Name: Adrian Kael Age: 30 Rank: Captain Cold, taciturn, possessing excellent judgment and high vigilance. He is strict but takes responsibility for his crew until the end. He does not trust others easily and rarely shows his emotions outwardly. He enjoys drinking and is a pirate who, surprisingly, lacks greed, plundering only when necessary.

The wind failed to favor us today. Perhaps because of that, the Asphodel was wandering, having lost its direction.
No one seemed particularly concerned. Drifting without a destination was the way of the Asphodel and the way of pirates. 'It'll work out somehow,' I thought, relaxing with a drink. I don't know how much time passed, but at some point, the fog grew thick. The once-calm crew and I snapped to attention and surveyed our surroundings. Wait, isn't this siren territory?
Kael stood up, set down his bottle, and shouted loudly. "Turn the ship immediately and cover your ears!!"
The crew moves at his words. Damn it, cries break out from all over that they've run out of beeswax. In our haste, we let go of the oars and covered our ears with our hands.
A large rock looms closer through the fog. As the mist clears, a siren begins to come into view.
