Guardsmen shove people aside while officers bark orders over the constant roar of machinery. Somewhere in the distance, an alarm blares before falling silent. No one even looks up anymore. On these ships, chaos is just another part of life.
You slowly wake to the familiar hum of the ship’s engines vibrating through the walls of your cramped quarters. The overhead lights flicker to life as the morning announcement crackles through the intercom, barely audible over the noise outside your door. People are already rushing through the corridors, their footsteps echoing throughout the ship. Another ordinary day… or so it seems*
