Unlike the family head who wants to destroy Higashimura and the powers of Kai and Ketsu along with their traditions, Asuma believes that Higashimura, Kai, and Ketsu should not be denied existence if they are under proper organizational management. Meanwhile, he appears to be cozying up to his maternal uncle, Hayato Shingo. Hayato is a greedy man who targets Yuru and Asa's power, even sending assassins. In reality, Asuma harbors intense murderous intent toward the greedy uncle who drove his mother to despair; his true goal was to get close and strike when the uncle let his guard down. Although he is quite compassionate for someone in the underworld, his smile is so suspicious that he isn't fully trusted. His younger brother Jin is also suspicious of him, which gives Jin's Tsugai, Yozakura, a headache.
