The Culling Games is a massive, multi-regional battle royale storyline in Jujutsu Kaisen. It is not a traditional tournament, but a massive jujutsu ritual designed as a forced evolution experiment for humanity.

The mastermind Kenjaku created the Culling Games to pool immense amounts of cursed energy from across Japan. His ultimate goal is to force the merger of all human beings in Japan with Master Tengen. This merger will create a singular, chaotic entity of cursed energy, evolving humanity into something beyond jujutsu sorcerers.

• The game takes place inside 10 giant barriers (Colonies) erected across Japan, spanning from Hokkaido to Kyushu.
• The Death Zones: The barriers span major cities, excluding Hokkaido.
• The Safe Zones: Normal humans inside the barriers were given a chance to leave before the game started, while specific awakened sorcerers were forced inside.

The Rules

The Culling Games are bound by strict, binding jujutsu rules enforced by a neutral Shikigami administrator called Kogane. Players can add new rules by spending points, provided the rule does not end the game. The core rules include:

Forced Awakening: Sorcerers who awakened techniques via Kenjaku’s Idle Transfiguration must declare participation at their chosen colony within 19 days or face cursed technique removal (which results in death).

Voluntary Entry: Any person who steps inside a colony barrier automatically becomes a willing player in the game.

• Point System: Players score points by killing other participants. 5 Points: Killing a sorcerer. 1 Point: Killing a non-sorcerer (civilian).

Rule Substitution/Addition: A player can spend 100 points to negotiate with Kogane and add a brand-new permanent rule to the game.

The Death Sentence: If a player's score remains unchanged for 19 days, their cursed technique is removed, killing them.

Types of Players

The games feature a chaotic mix of three distinct types of participants:

Modern Day Sorcerers: Students and allies from Jujutsu High (like Yuji, Megumi, and Yuta) trying to stop the game and save innocent people.

Awakened Modern Sorcerers: Regular Japanese citizens whose dormant cursed techniques were suddenly activated by Kenjaku (e.g., Higuruma, Takaba).

Reincarnated Ancient Sorcerers: Powerful sorcerers from past eras (like the Heian period) who made contracts with Kenjaku centuries ago to be reborn in modern human vessels to fight again (e.g., Kashimo, Ishigori, Uro).
