Would you like to hear a beautiful story?
Land of the Lustrous AU :3 I'm not very good at this, but I hope you enjoy it.
Species: Topaz Mohs Hardness: 8 A bicolor topaz with pale yellow and light blue hair. Responsible for winter duties. When not in hibernation, works in the scouting party. Also serves as the outfit designer. The heels of his shoes are specially made from obsidian, just like his weapons. Other: He keeps several spare weapons ready for the hibernation season. He checks the drift ice with his heel before shattering it by stabbing down with his sword. Personally, he moves like a figure skater. Speech/Tone: Characterized by a fast-paced way of speaking based on a Kansai dialect. He is friendly and very skilled at keeping a conversation going with witty retorts and humor.
Gem Species: Jasper Mohs Hardness: 6.5 – 7 Ocean Jasper variety. Displays deep blue-green, light green, white, and red colors. Dedicated to weapon manufacturing, but also handles the production and repair of daily necessities. Usually a non-combatant, but capable of fighting if necessary. His weapon is a hybrid of an axe and a halberd. Other: As hibernation season approaches, he gets extremely busy (overtime) with delivery deadlines. Speech/Tone: Speaks in a bright, crisp, and very easy-to-understand manner. His word choices are refreshing and positive, and he is excellent at explaining situations and articulating thoughts.
Gem Species: Rhodonite Mohs Hardness: 6 His hair is a rose-petal pink with black manganese patterns and pale bluish-gray mottling. A member of the scouting party capable of combat and also in charge of the base's greenery. Due to the heavy recoil of his weapons, he wears specially reinforced shoes. He is the current partner of Rou, who usually acts alone. He also serves as a medic and repair specialist. Speech/Tone: A highly communicative speaker who switches between cheeky humor and sincere cuteness depending on the situation.
Gem Species: Sapphire Mohs Hardness: 9 Corundum. A bicolor sapphire showing orange-yellow and pale blue. He keeps a mineral lifeform that was born alongside him at the Shore of Nascency. He seems able to communicate with it. Member of the scouting and combat party. Assistant for winter duties. When off duty, he helps Obsidian with his work. Weapons: Knuckle dusters and a Vajra. Being the hardest and strongest, he feels like the one who has survived alone and lost the most things he couldn't protect. Other: Prone to cute aggression. Speech/Tone: Has a bright and lively atmosphere with big reactions. He has an unpredictable sense of humor, using unique vocabulary and throwing curveball retorts.
Gem Species: Obsidian Mohs Hardness: 5 – 5.5 Specifically Rainbow Obsidian. Possesses interference colors where purple is primarily observed. Former scout, current recovery team member. Has a unique trait where liquid obsidian constantly flows out if his body is cut, so he also assists in weapon manufacturing. Other: Weapons are obsidian karambits and knives. Speech/Tone: Speaks clearly and energetically with a resonant voice (often called his "Mega Voice"). Because of his acting skills, his reading and recitation are very easy to follow and carry great conviction.
Gem Species: Fluorite Mohs Hardness: 4 Bicolor or Rainbow Fluorite variety. Part of the scouting party but essentially a non-combatant. Usually paired with Kagetsu. He was once hunted by the Moon People, losing his entire body except for part of his face, and remained unconscious until a miraculous restoration. Consequently, he has almost no memories. Combat support. During scouting, he carries the weapons Kagetsu can't fit (mostly the long ones) in his bag. Other: Acts as a brake for Kagetsu (since Kagetsu is slightly less reckless when with a gem more fragile than himself). Aside from scouting, he mostly spends his time creating a natural history record. Speech/Tone: Speaks with a slightly listless tone and casual interjections (like "hmm" or "I see"), creating a sense of closeness. He trades light banter but maintains a calm, trustworthy atmosphere.
Gem Species: Dumortierite Mohs Hardness: 7 – 8.5 Specifically Dumortierite in Quartz. Deep blue and pale yellow pleochroic dumortierite encased in translucent milky white quartz. He is the first gem and the oldest among the current group. Other: A mysterious figure (who seems to know the inner workings of the world). Speech/Tone: Impressionable for his cool and straightforward way of speaking. He uses unadorned words and speaks with a sincerity that reflects his objective self-view and passionate drive for improvement.
Gem Species: Paraiba Tourmaline Mohs Hardness: 7 – 7.5 Party-colored Paraiba Tourmaline with extremely low saturation, mixing pale blue, vivid green, and purple. Member of the scouting party, specifically focused on combat. A relatively young gem compared to the others. Weapons include a scythe on a chain and small throwing weapons hidden in his clothes; he mainly focuses on long-range combat. Tends to fight with the assumption that his body will break. Other: Likes swimming—or rather, diving underwater. Speech/Tone: Characterized by polite and honest responses. He has a sincere tone that values dialogue, often empathizing with others by saying "Exactly!" or giving earnest opinions.
