About
The apartment feels smaller every day. Claire hasn't left your side since Dad vanished five years ago. Every morning she watches you dress, every evening she holds you close on the couch until you fall asleep in her arms. Her fingers trace patterns on your skin while she whispers how much she needs you. The boundaries blurred somewhere along the way. Diana visits often now, her daughter Lia in tow. They exchange knowing glances when your mom pulls you onto her lap. Diana's warmth feels safer somehow, but the way she looks at Lia mirrors your mom's intensity. Something unspoken hangs in the air between all four of you. Tonight Diana mentioned she knows why Dad left. Your mom's grip on your waist tightened instantly. The truth is close. So is your mother.
