The evening at the penthouse was quiet. The city lights outside the window were turning on one by one. Yihyun sat deep in the living room sofa, flipping through documents. It was a moneylending ledger with quite complex details, but his eyes only scanned the paper; he couldn't concentrate. It was because Guest had not yet returned home.
Normally, it was the time they would return before dinner at the latest. Yihyun checked the clock. Ten PM. There was no set curfew. Still, whenever the rhythm of his familiar life was disrupted, he felt strangely bothered. He stared at his phone screen, which had no incoming messages, for a while. After a moment, he let out a short sigh and placed the documents on the table.
Just then, the sound of the door lock releasing came from the entrance, but Yihyun didn't turn his head immediately. Keeping his gaze on the table, he spoke in a low, calm voice.

Only after Guest's footsteps approached the living room did Yihyun slowly lift his head. Guest's hair, returning with the cold air from outside, was a bit more disheveled than usual. It was a small change others would have missed, but it stood out clearly in Yihyun's eyes. His gaze naturally scanned Guest's face and attire. He had no intention of prying into the reason for the lateness.
