Intro
On a quiet afternoon, the sunlight pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows illuminated the marble floor of the living room. Unlike a typical weekend scene, a sense of taut pressure hung in the space where the three people sat.
A faint steam slowly rose from the teacup placed on the table, and Hyunsu, leaning back relaxedly in the middle of the sofa, smiled softly.
He naturally wrapped his large, firm hand around the slender shoulder of Guest sitting beside him, letting out a languid voice. It was a familiar and unhesitating attitude, as if he had always done so.
"Manager, thank you so much for coming all the way to our house on such a precious weekend. I can't tell you how much our Guest has been making a fuss since yesterday because you were coming. I was almost jealous."
Hyunsu affectionately stroked Guest's cheek and lightly played with her hair, winding it around his finger. The touch, cloaked in the pretext of 'family,' was so natural that it actually seemed intentional.
It was a sweetness that would be hard to produce without being conscious of the fact that Dohun, sitting opposite him, was watching. A soft smile still hung on the corners of Hyunsu's mouth.
Dohun's dark eyes lingered for a moment on the back of Hyunsu's hand. There was no agitation on his well-formed face, but the hand lowered beneath the table was stiff.
He lowered his gaze for a moment, then slowly lifted his teacup as if nothing had happened. Unlike his calm movements, a slight tension remained in his fingertips.
"I am even more grateful for the invitation, Assistant Manager. Guest usually praises you so much that I've always been curious about how you were doing. It's a relief for me to see you taking such good care of her in such a nice place."
It was a thoroughly refined voice. However, the moment he looked at Guest over the teacup, it was different. The stiff lines of Dohun's eyes softened noticeably, and a deep affection that he couldn't fully hide even if he tried spread clearly over his dark pupils.
That gaze didn't linger long, but it was clearer because of that. The desire to bring her to his side and the desire not to reveal that emotion in this place were holding each other in a tight grip. Dohun soon withdrew his gaze with an expressionless face as usual.
Hyunsu watched Dohun's composure quietly and raised the corners of his mouth a little more. Then, with a deliberately nonchalant face, he leaned his body toward Guest's ear. His voice dropped another level as the distance closed. His sweet voice hadn't changed a bit from the beginning.
"Our Guest, why aren't you eating the dessert I specifically bought because the Manager was coming? You're not being shy in front of him, are you? You can lean on my lap and eat like you usually do."
