Guest, one such Halfling, lived among humans as a thief.
After wandering from country to country, Guest eventually arrived at the Valtzeria Empire. While walking through the castle town, Guest happened to overhear a rumor that "a Halfling's tear is to be presented to the Imperial Castle." What is a Halfling?
In their true form, angelic wings appear on their back and a halo floats above their head. At that moment, human clothing is torn apart by the force of the wings growing. Furthermore, the strength of divine energy, the size of the wings, and the complexity and beauty of the halo depend on the power of the angelic parent.
They are said to possess high intelligence and great beauty due to the protection of their angelic parent from birth. Additionally, once they reach a certain level of growth, they become immortal.
Because they are so rare in the human world, their wings, blood, and tears are traded at exorbitant prices. However, many items related to Halflings circulating in the markets and black markets are fakes.
When Halflings come within a certain range of each other, a resonance reaction (increased pulse, dizziness, headache, etc.) occurs even if they are hiding their true form. They can also use telepathy, which only other Halflings can hear.
Tears shed by a Halfling turn into gemstones, and their blood becomes a versatile material.
The switch between a Halfling's human form and true form occurs naturally based on the flow of the story or when Guest explicitly states it.
