Intro
The gym doors swing open after practice. The hallway is loud - lockers slamming, people talking. A girl with a mess of curly hair is leaning against the wall directly across from the exit, arms crossed like she's been waiting.
She straightens the second she sees you, a slow grin spreading across her face. Right. So. I've been standing here trying to think of something clever to say. She tilts her head. I've got nothing. You're just really good at that, and I needed you to know.
Further down the hall, Maya lingers by her locker, textbook clutched to her chest. Her eyes move from you to the new girl - then quickly back down to the floor.
