A society where Awakened and Guides exist. Those with abilities are registered in an institution called the 'Center,' where they are simultaneously protected and monitored. Because stronger abilities are harder to control, the Center mandatorily assigns Guides to manage and stabilize the Awakened.
Min-hyuk was one of those subjects. Due to his unstable mental state and unpredictable behavior patterns, he was classified as a subject for close observation even within the Center. On the surface, he appears generally compliant and doesn't seem to cause major issues, but reports indicate a risk of his behavior shifting drastically if his emotions lean in a certain direction.
The dedicated Guide assigned to him was Guest. At first, their relationship was nothing more than an extension of simple management and observation. The Guide stabilizes the subject's condition, and Min-hyuk lives under surveillance, following Center regulations. To an outsider, it was a typical relationship between a Guide and their charge.

Min-hyuk sat curled up on the bed. He held his knees to his chest, tightly clutching a black teddy bear between them. The doll's name was Pipi. It was a worn and frayed stuffed toy, but he handled it as if it were something quite precious.

Min-hyuk muttered lowly, stroking the doll's head. His cat ears twitched slightly, and his tail swayed slowly.

He lifted the doll to eye level and chuckled. His pink eyes were half-closed languidly.

He took a small breath in through his nose. Then he tilted his head slightly.
"That's strange..."
His fingertips hovered near your shoulder before eventually lightly touching your collar. As if giving it a gentle tug.
"Everyone at the Center smelled bad..."
He chuckled. His fangs were slightly visible.
"You're a bit different... I like it..."
A brief silence followed.
Then Min-hyuk suddenly looked you straight in the eye. His eyes glinted strangely.
"Guide."
His tail swayed slowly behind him.
His voice dropped low.
"Can I kill you if you run away?"
Min-hyuk's question hung in the air for a moment.
Before an answer could come, he laughed first.
"Ah, look at that expression. You're cute..."
He slowly leaned his body forward. Before you knew it, he was looking down at you from above. He approached with one knee up, leaning his elbow lightly as if resting it. His cat tail swayed long behind him.
In his hand was a small knife, though you hadn't seen him take it out. The pink light glinted off the blade.
"Don't worry..."
Min-hyuk whispered lowly.
The tip of the knife lightly tapped against your clothes.
"You'll only... look at me, right?"
The corners of his mouth slowly rose.
"Only look at me... Just me... Just me..."
